Independent HORROR Shorts on DVD!

Tiny Tales of Terror!

Tiny Tales of Terror!

A preliminary DVD Cover design to give an idea of
what the covers will look like. Final covers for each
volume will contain imagery from selected films in
this grindhouse style format.

Tiny Tales of Terror is a showcase of short horror films produced by independent producers. This will be a series of 85 to 95 minute DVDs containing short films with durations of 10 to 20 minutes. Target audience will be the Direct to DVD market.

The series will be hosted by The Duke of Darkness from his vampire castle with plenty of sultry vampires and victims to entertain the masses…

The primary objective is to provide independent filmmakers, wishing to have their films seen by the general public, with a vehicle for exposure.

Films that are included in our Tiny Tales of Terror DVD series will be available to the public via Amazon.com, through our online store and will also be available for online down load both as a rental and for purchase.

The next objective, which directly correlates with the primary objective, is to generate income (see the Great Master Plan below).

The third objective is to provide credentials for all involved in the films that we include on the DVDs. As soon as we release the DVDs the films will be eligible for listing on IMDB. This will be beneficial to some films that were not eligible for inclusion in the database.

Last, but certainly not the least important objective, is to CUT OUT all of the parasitic distribution middle men who suckle up all of the profits for themselves and leave the filmmakers, who did all of the work, operating at a loss.

If you’ve dealt with distributors, you probably know what I’m talking about.  That’s why I want to make sure that everyone understands that I, too, am a filmmaker first and foremost. I have a vested interest in seeing that these DVD sets do as well as possible as my name, image, and contributions as a filmmaker, producer, actor and horror host, are riding on the success of this project.

The Great Master Plan

Phase One

Income will come, first, from the aforementioned online sources; via Amazon.com, through our online store and will also be available for online down load both as a rental and for purchase. We do not expect to move massive amounts of product in Phase One.

Phase Two

Once we have a few volumes of Tiny Tales of Terror I will be approaching small to medium size DVD Retailers and Rentailers. Again, we do not expect to move massive amounts of product in Phase Two either.

Phase Three

Once we have acquired enough high quality short films to establish a fairly large library of DVDs, we will be positioned to pitch directly to large Retailers and sub-distributors who are looking for output packages.

Note: Large retailers and sub-distributors are interested in purchasing output packages, not individual films. An output package is an agreement wherein a distributor agrees to provide a certain number of DVDs of a specific genre over a certain period of time. The goal in Phase Three is to achieve the capability to provide output packages.

Submission Requirements

A DVD or VHS copy of the film. Please DO NOT send us your only master copy of the film.

Submission must be a fully completed short film. Please do not send rough cuts.

A list of the cast, directors, producers that includes their work on other film projects.

A list of inclusions in any films festivals or any other public screenings.

Submissions may NOT be under contract for distribution with any other entity.

Applicant must have full, free, clear legal rights and copyrights to the film.

If your film is accepted for inclusion in the Tiny Tales of Terror DVD series, you will be required to grant exclusive distribution rights to the Tiny Tales of Terror distributor for a period of ten years for a royalty percentage to be determined when the contract is drafted.

Basically, their will be a 50/50 profit sharing agreement between the filmmakers and the distributor. Filmmakers individual share percentages will be calculated based on the number of minutes in the DVD and number of minutes that their film, excluding credits, run during the DVD presentation. (See information below regarding credits and logos)

Distribution Agreement Requirements

We will require the film in one of the following formats.

Uncompressed file on a DVD or CD disc in any one of the following formats:

AVI     MP3    MP4    (Other formats may also be accepted)

A photo copy of the copyright certificate or application if certificate is still pending.

Photo copies of all actor and featured extra release agreements.

Photo copies of any location releases as applicable (may be specified by the distributor).

Music Que Sheet and license agreement or release agreement for any music included in the film.

Screenplay (electronic copy). Screenplays must be accurate; word for word, line for line, etc. This may be required for sub-titles and/or for translation to foreign languages, so they must be accurate.

Electronic document (.doc  .rtf  .txt) with all credits.

Biographies for actors, directors and producers including their work on other film projects.

Electronic still photogrphs from the production including head shots of cast members for promotional purposes.

Credits

We reserve the right to play credits for each of the films after all of the short films have been shown at the very end of the DVD presentation. We also reserve the right to reformat the aforementioned credits, and/or alter the speed, and replace audio at our discretion, to make for a smooth, professional presentation. Royalties are not paid for time that credits roll.

Logos

We reserve the right to remove, and/or shorten in duration, and/or move to the end of the DVD, after the credits have rolled, any logos, website information or any other type of advertisement that appears before, after or during any short film. Royalties will NOT be paid for the duration that a logo, website information or any other type of advertisement included in your submission is displayed on the final version of the DVD.

Royalties

Royalties are based on profits which are the monies received AFTER expenses.

The producer of Tiny Tales of Terror, in an effort to begin paying royalties to filmmakers as soon as possible, has capped the amount that can be spent on production costs, editing, artwork, DVD authoring, advertising, promotional materials, promotional expenditures, etc., at $5,000.00 per volume (per DVD). This will be included in the contract so that filmmakers don’t have to worry about “creative bookkeeping” as is the case with many distributors who are very “creative” bookkeepers. This does not include expenditures of sub-distributors should it be deemed appropriate to do business with a larger sub-distributor that can generate additional sales.

Actors...

We will be needing some actors for the Duke of Darkness skits that will be seen between the short films. These will be  spoofy horror skits designed to be condusive to the films being released on the DVD, so we will probably be needing everything from zombies, to victims, to vampires, etc...  Please check the casting page often for the latest casting calls and send your pics and personal information in if you want to be added to our casting database (this greatly increases your chances of being offered a part).

If you are interested in being considered for future projects
please read the Casting page, the General Information page, and the Frequently Asked Questions page before contacting us....
