Filmed in Travis County, Texas in digital
16:9 (widescreen) format, on a ten thousand dollar budget, The
Abberdine County Conjuror is a unique work of fiction about some young
campers who find themselves victims of a decadent back woods conjuror
and her two sadistic apprentices who control a small army of zombies…
In the most
remote
area of the Texas Hill Country is a place called Abberdine County; a
place rich with twisted folklore that seems to attract young
adventurers, and people who are just trying to get away from it all.
Many people disappear in Abberdine County, but after all, anybody could
get lost in this vast wilderness where the few backwoods people who
live here have been cut off from civilization for so long that they’ve
developed some very bizarre behaviors.
But what is really
happening to these people? Could the legends be true? Could there
really be a 150 year old Conjuror living in the woods who controls a
small army of zombies and uses the blood of young female captives to
brew her life sustaining potions?
Meg (Teresa Deasey)
and Mike (Ivan Sadowski) have come to Abberdine County to find their
friend Bev (Charlemagne Domiana) who disappeared on a camping trip a
couple of weeks earlier. It seems that poor Bev got lost in the woods,
was attacked by a zombie, and was taken back to the Conjuror’s
encampment where she was shackled naked to the ceremonial blood letting
table, drained of blood and held prisoner to produce more blood for the
Conjuror’s potions. But Meg and Mike only know that she is missing and
they’ve come to find her.
After setting up
camp, Meg decides to visit the local Fortune Teller, Jessie (Winter
Wytchwood) who warns her about the Conjuror and advises her to leave
Abberdine County. As soon as Meg leaves, Jessie is confronted by the
Conjuror’s two minions, Edda (Natalie Geneva) and Raven (Ellen Keefer)
who wreck her fortune telling stand and beat her to a bloody pulp.
Later that day, Mike
discovers some human remains on some land near the campground, in a
place that they’ve been warned to stay away from.
Meanwhile, Molly (Liz
Goddard) who has been abducted and held captive at the encampment
receives a severe bullwhip lashing by Edda for her lack of cooperation
while being held captive, but later, when Edda passes out from drinking
too much moonshine, Molly makes her escape into the wilderness where
she wanders for days, avoiding zombies and trying to find a way out.
That night, a rain
storm washes the main road out, leaving everyone trapped in the area,
and Meg and Mike are also attacked by zombies. Mike is taken captive
and placed in a coffin where he is to be transformed into a zombie, but
Meg makes a narrow escape with the help of Zombie Hunter, Sean Steel,
who takes Meg back to his camp.
Over the next few
days, Meg and Jessie are both lured into the woods and taken captive by
the Conjuror where they are drained of blood, abused, beaten and
tortured. Raven decides to use Jessie as her personal play-toy,
sometimes keeping her in her bedroom at night where she is ruthlessly
abused.
Molly eventually
finds a vacant campsite with some supplies, and un-knowingly drinks a
bottle of Jessie’s hallucinogenic Potion which results in pretty wild
trip.
Who will survive?
Will they find Bev? Will Mike be transformed into a zombie? Will Molly
find her way back to civilization, or will the Zombies find her first?
Will any of them make it out alive?

Producer's
Memoirs
July 11th, 2005
At long, long last,
The Abberdine County Conjuror is officially complete. I sent the final
2 hour and 17 minute copy to the US Copyright Register today, marking
its official completion. I’ll be sending copies to several distributors
next, and will be settling a on a distribution agreement, hopefully, in
the next few months.
In retrospect, I think that the film turned out pretty good,
considering all of the setbacks that we had. After a year of
preparation, we got off to a rocky start when one of our actresses
was not working out and we had to let her go. After a couple of weeks
we decided to eliminate that character from the film all together and
moved on, which required some re-writing of the screenplay.
Next, I suffered a knee injury that caused a delay in filming for
several weeks. We started up again as soon as we could, but then we
lost another actress for economic reasons and had to find a replacement
for her, which is how Edda, Raven’s cousin, was born into the film. We
got them together for a few shoots and then Edda took over the scenes
that Raven would have been in.
Then there were the weather problems; we were repeatedly rained out
when we were hoping to shoot, and of course, most of the scenes were
shot outdoors… but again, we eventually got through it.
In keeping things in perspective though, we really did get alot of very
good film for all of the effort that went into this project.
By the time I finished editing the film, I was to the point of not
really knowing if the film had turned out that good or not. I was
familiar with every single frame of every scene; I knew where every
glitch, every lighting problem, every glare, every audio problem,
however well covered up, was on this film, and to me, they were
problems that stood out like a painfully bruised sore thumb. I was also
worried that the film might be too long.
When we did the first private screening of the film, the response was
great. Nobody seemed to notice any of the "glitches" which, in
retrospect, are pretty minor, and they were glued to the screen for the
entire 2 hours and 17 minutes!
Now, I’m focusing on our next project; Demon Board, a film for which In
have even greater expectations than the last…
